Many researches are going on on the behavioural pattern of human beings in video game play. The analysis so far has been made by researchers has shown that action game players have better coordination between hand and eye and develop visuo motor skills. Their skill towards sensitivity of information in the peripheral vision, resistance to distraction and their ability to count briefly presented objects found more developed as compared to non players. Researchers have observed that such increased skill could be possessed by training with "action games" that has challenges which switch attention between various locations but it doesn't develop by the games which require concentration on single objects.
Video games require a person to get well acquainted with the interface using which he plays the game. It requires study of menus, set his objectives and information about how to complete the objectives. They have to learn the game controls also. It requires navigation and mastering the game with many variables and a highly complex system. They require analytical ability, flexibility and adaptability too. Most of the games need good patience and focus by the game player.
The learning qualities found in video games have been assesses as a technique by which the education system can be modified. While the players play the video game with full concentration without knowing that they are actually learning something. This attitude of game players can be utilised to improve the education system at schools.
It has been also found by researchers on a test conducted on 33 laparoscopic surgeons that the doctors who played the video games were 27% faster and made 37% less errors at advance surgical procedures in comparison to the doctors who did not play the video games. Similar results have been found in another larger group of doctors also, including men and women.
Researches on the subject are still going on and a lot positive results have been observed specially for action games.
